Greetings,
As we return from a long weekend break, I unfortunately must share with our school community very tragic news about a Dearborn Public Schools student.
Woodworth Middle School 8th grader Ibrahem Ali died this past weekend while away with his family in Chicago. Principal Rabac, school Social Workers, and I have all spoken with the family to express our deepest condolences and offer support as they grieve the loss of their child. I know our entire Dearborn Public Schools community is sending thoughts of compassion and will respect the family’s privacy at this most tragic and sorrowful time.
School Social Workers, as well as crisis team members from both the school and district, will be available at Woodworth to support the emotional needs of students and staff.
All life is valuable and the loss of a young life is always difficult to understand. Our community has always stood strong in times of need. I ask that we all do what we do best here in Dearborn, I ask that we all come together in spirit and pray for the Ali family at this most difficult time.
In peace,
Glenn Maleyko
Superintendent
