At Dearborn Public Schools we are extremely transparent. All important decisions are made in open public meetings and everyone is welcome to attend. We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7pm for the P-12 school district. All regular scheduled meetings are televised and the video is put on youtube. In addition, all minutes and documents are on the website. Click Here. Address 18700 Audette, Dearborn, MI.
The issue related to the BRICS Bond discussion started in May of 2017. The initial issue had to deal with high school capacity. It eventually led to public discussions on boundaries with several open public meetings at multiple schools in 2017. Click Here. That led to discussions on infrastructure and security where my administrative team and I recommended and the board approved the formation of an infrastructure committee that met for several months in 2018. The infrastructure committee ultimately recommended that the board consider a Bond. The Board then approved having our administrative team further study the potential for a Bond. The Board of Education ultimately voted unanimously in June of 2019 to send the application for a Bond to the Michigan Department of Treasury. In July of 2019 the Board approved placing the Bond on the Ballot with another unanimous vote.
Again, all of our meetings are open to the public and very transparent. All of the links are listed below from all of the meetings that led to the eventual bond. In addition you can download board minutes at the following link. Click Here. This has been a two year plus process and anyone who was interested would always be welcome to attend our board meetings and participate in the process. We also had several special meetings or study sessions.
