Chatting With The Superintendent
-An opportunity for informal conversation with the Superintendent and his administrative team.
At Board meetings the conversation is rather formal, on social media the tone is a bit lighter, and now the conversation will be interactive as Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko opens up another avenue of communications with a series of informal meetings with staff, parents, and community members.
“I’m looking forward to talking with our stakeholders in a very informal setting and being able to share the big picture story of our district, listen to their thoughts and comments, and hopefully answer any questions they may have of me or our administrative team,” Superintendent Maleyko commented.
One possible topic of discussion could be the District’s newly adopted Strategic Plan and how it will guide instruction in the classroom. Other topics may include the School Improvement Process, testing, budget, or addressing the increasing enrollment in the District. Maleyko stressed that the conversation will be driven by those in attendance with most of the time going for questions, answers, and discussion on topics of interest to the parents and community members attending.
“My hope is that this casual relaxed setting will allow for a more free flowing dialogue between those attending and our administrative team,” the second year superintendent added.
The meetings are open to all parents and community members even if your child attends a school that is not hosting the event. (Additional sites will be added for the 2017-18 school year). Conversation will focus on topics related to individual schools or the District as a whole. Parents who may want to discuss an individual student should arrange to meet privately with the principal of the school or the child’s teacher.
