Lamis Srour named interim superintendent

Lamis Srour

Greetings,
I’m very happy to share that Ms. Lamis Srour, Executive Director of Student Achievement was named Interim Superintendent at last night’s Board of Education meeting. Ms. Srour will start her Interim role on December 5th.

Having Lamis in this role will ensure a seamless transition as I begin my new position as State Superintendent on December 8th. Lamis has been part of the Executive team since 2022 and has done an outstanding job overseeing the Edsel Ford Feeder Track,  leading curriculum design and initiatives at the elementary level, and overseeing all the early childhood programs. I am confident that Ms. Srour will do an excellent job continuing the work of our district.

I also want to thank the Executive team for their professionalism during this transition period. Their experience, knowledge, and leadership will ensure the continued success of our District. Led by Ms. Srour, they will continue to work as a team to make the important decisions that drive our work each day.

Having a solid leadership team in place is vitally important in providing the Board the time they need to conduct a comprehensive search for a new Superintendent. The Board will be seeking both internal and external candidates and it is estimated to take as long as 13 weeks to complete the process.

Again, I want to congratulate Ms. Srour on her appointment as Interim Superintendent. She is the first woman to lead the Dearborn Public Schools and the first Arab-American Muslim to take the helm of the District.  I have confidence and trust in her abilities to be an outstanding leader during this transition time.

Have a great week,

Glenn Maleyko, Ph.D.

Superintendent
