Press Release #37/Feb. 21, 2023
It will be a fierce, but friendly C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N on March 1 and 2 at Fordson High School.
That’s when top elementary and middle school spellers from across the district will come together over two nights to face off in the second annual Dearborn Public Schools Spelling Bee.
Middle school students will compete on March 1 with sixth grade at 5 p.m., seventh grade at 6 p.m. and eighth grade at 7 p.m. On March 2, elementary students will face off starting with third grade at 5 p.m., fourth grade at 6 p.m. and fifth grade at 7 p.m.
All the events will be held in the auditorium at Fordson High School, 13800 Ford Road, Dearborn. Guests can use the parking lot on the east side of the school.
Those who cannot attend the Spelling Bee in person can watch the event live or later on demand on the district’s YouTube Channel.
Spellers competing on March 1 and 2 have already placed in the top spots at their school during competition at one of the district’s 22 elementary schools or eight middle schools. Organizing for the spelling bee began last fall.
The event is once again organized by Communities in Schools and supported by The Amity Foundation and Dearborn Public Schools.
