Press Release #32/Feb. 7, 2023
In two separate fiscal steps, Dearborn Public Schools has changed how vendors can bid for contracts with the district and has launched an auction to sell surplus goods.
As of Feb. 1, the district began using Bidnet Direct to solicit bids for work in Dearborn Public Schools. Bidnet Direct handles thousands of bids for government agencies. Companies interested in working with the district are encouraged to register with the new system so they can receive notifications when bids requests are posted.
Previously the district used Bid4Michigan, but that service closed at the end of January.
Companies interested in learning more about working with the district are encouraged to visit the webpage Doing Business with Dearborn Public Schools.
“We always encourage local businesses to consider bidding for work in the district. We try to help them find more details on how to do that so that hopefully they can be the successful lowest responsible bidder on district projects,” said Tom Wall, Executive Director of Business Services and Operations
Meanwhile, the district is also running an online auction for surplus items through Feb. 15.
Items being auctioned include commercial freezers, lots of student desks and chairs, filing cabinets, office furniture, three older trucks, seven school buses and many other items. Except for the vehicles, items are being sold in larger lots. Visit the online auction to see a full list of items and terms.
