Dr. Glenn Maleyko

Updates from the past two weeks. #students1stDbnSchs Santa Snaps, Professional Development, and School Visits.

Fordson Interact Students, Executive Cabinet and Trustee Nasser Volunteered at Santa Snaps to raise money for the Dearborn Rotary Fundraiser. It is a great event for a wonderful cause and rewarding to see how excited young children get when they see Santa.

Mohamad Osman is a very brave DHS student who is battling cancer. I had a wonderful visit with Mohamad and his family. He plans to attend the University of Detroit Mercy Dental school next fall. I wish him all the best and will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

School Improvement Visits at Howard and Haigh.

Jilrae Greco was my supervising teacher during my student teaching term at Oakman Elementary in 1996. I was very fortunate to work with her as a student teacher. She is currently a 4th grade teacher at Haigh and she is an awesome teacher. She has a great rapport with her students and is making a difference each and every day like so many other teachers in our district. Our faculty is the best and I am proud of the great work that our staff does to support our students.

The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce annual Holiday Gala.

A PLC presentation before the Teacher Leadership Group. Thank you to Scott Casebolt and Lori Lintner for their high quality presentations and leadership with PLCs.  In addition, they along with Eman Ahmed presented before all Administrators in Dearborn at the monthly meeting.  Additional presentations included the Parent Teacher Home visit model by Mahmoud Abu-rus, his teaching faculty, and Chris Sipperley.  Don Ball presented on district safety protocols. Bob Harrison and Amy Gwizdz presented on Mahara.

The Metro Bureau Annual Holiday Get together. We have a district membership and they are a great group that provides us with a lot of resources.

The Middle School Superintendent Student Advisory Council.

With David from Fordson an Interact student, we both participated in the Dearborn Santa Snaps two weeks in a row.
