Aladdin Jr. Musical Production Features Elementary and Middle School Students from Across District
In a show of city-wide artistic Dearborn Public Schools spirit, students from 16 different schools across Dearborn will sing, act, dance or work on the crew in Stout Theater Company’s performance of Disney’s “Aladdin Jr.”
The show includes 76 talented students in grades 1-8 from Stout, Becker, Geer Park, Haigh, Howe, Howard, Lindbergh, Long, Maples, McCollough, Miller, Oakman, Snow, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) School, Unis, and Woodworth.
The story of Aladdin, from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, is a national favorite. Following months of rehearsals, the dedicated students working on stage and in the wings at Stout will transport the audience to a magical place filled with beautiful music and elaborate sets and costumes.
“Through the students’ performance in Aladdin Jr., we will be transported to a world where young people also are the ones in control,” comments Director Rashid Baydoun. “I marvel at their confidence, art, and self-control. Our young people not only demonstrate the fearlessness and maturity involved in putting oneself front and center, but they do it with the craft and class that go beyond what is typical of their age group.”
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 and Friday, April 21; and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 in the Stout Middle School auditorium.
Tickets in advance: $8 adults/$5 students and seniors. Due to high demand, it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. Performance day, all tickets are $10, while supplies last.
Tickets may be purchased Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m. at the Stout Middle School auditorium, 18500 Oakwood Boulevard, Dearborn, MI 48124.
