Dr. Glenn Maleyko

Update During the Spring Break: March is Reading Month, Blue Hands Autism Awareness, NSBA, School Visits, and other events. I hope that everyone is having a great break. We are working at ASC but getting a lot accomplished.

My Son and I attended the Blue Hands Autism Awareness Event at McCollough-Unis on April 2nd. We ran into Trustee Berry, Dr. Chochol, PTA Council President Haidar, Ms. DeJaeger(Special Education Director), Inaya Soufyan(teacher), Principal Farhat,  along with many parents, students, staff and families. The Dearborn Special Education Department helped to sponsor the event. It was a great event for a wonderful cause and a lot of fun. Thank you to the Blue Hands United Group for their great work.

President Bazzi and I had an excellent experience at the National School Board Association Conference. There was a lot of learning and networking. It was huge conference with high quality presentations. In fact, I think that it was the largest conference that I have ever attended. We plan to give a presentation at the P-12 board of Education meeting on April 10.

We wrote the following message on the board –  Students First: Educate, Inspire, Celebrate.

Dr. Douglas Reeves. I am a big fan of his research and work on assessment and educational leadership. The Administrators in Dearborn use his evaluation model for principal evaluations.

Wes Moore the Author of the Other Wes Moore signed my book. I read his book and used it for a book talk where I presented before students at Dearborn High this past November.  I was very excited to meet him in person.

Reading Charlotte’s Web at DuVall Elementary to close out March is Reading Month.

A Visit to Geer Park with Ms. Srour and students. I also met one of my twitter friends.

A picture with Joe my former Engineer from when I was the principal at DuVall in 2009. I still wear the wings hat despite the poor season they had this year. I am a die hard Wings fan.

Congratulations to Trustee Jim Thorpe for winning the Business Leader of the Year Award at the Chamber of Commerce Event. Congratulations to Former Representative Darany for winning the Chamber of Commerce Impact Award. I also ran into the current Dearborn Representative Hammoud. We always get a selfie when we meet it is now a tradition every time we are in the same place. Lol. 🙂

I was at Smith with students and the students first sign even though you cannot see it. lol. Also, a visit to Salina to hear William Ali tell a story to the students. They were very interested in his bear story.

A SIP visit at Fordson. Our 2nd semester visits are unannounced and the fire alarm happened to go off while we were there. The staff and students did an awesome job exiting the building as it only took them 5 minutes to clear everyone out.

Reading at Henry Ford and McCollough-Unis.

Members of the Dearborn Education Foundation meeting to discuss raising money for schools.

National Junior Honors Society Event at Woodworth where students were recognized. Trustee Hammoud, Dr. Chochol, and Ms. Alie-Bazzi also attended.

A school improvement visit to the Henry Ford Early College and Co-teaching Training with Anne Benninghof.
