Holiday Message

2016 Holiday Message
Once again another year is quickly coming to a close and we look forward to a well-deserved time to relax, travel, or just enjoy the company of those who mean so much to us in our life. I want to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a safe, happy, and blessed holiday season.

The holidays are a time when our thoughts are focused on family, friends, sharing memories and helping others. Many of us will also reflect on our personal beliefs and our moral obligations to the betterment of the greater community. In short, the holidays provide us an opportunity to reconnect with the values that are most important to us, guide our actions, and define who we are.

For more than twenty-five years the Dearborn Public Schools, through our character education programs, have reinforced the values that parents and community members consider to be important in the life of a child. Our role is not to impose our values on students, but to reinforce and model the positive values parents are teaching their children at home.

This year, we have brought new attention to our Core Values of Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect for Self and Others, and Citizenship.  These Core Values are not part of a “textbook” curriculum; rather these are the values our community has told us are most important to them. I’m proud to be the Superintendent in Dearborn and to be part of a community that models the behaviors our Core Values promote.

Each New Year brings new opportunities and new challenges. This year, I ask all of you to make a new commitment to modeling the Core Values that we know will make our community, our state, and our country a great place for all.

With warmest holiday wishes for all,

Glenn
