Dr. Glenn Maleyko

Update Since November 3, 2015. Includes: School Visits, The Mayor’s Fundraiser with Mickey Redmond and the City Beautiful Breakfast.

Walk through school visits along with planned School Improvement Plan (SIP)Visits continue as part of my daily and weekly routine. Since the inception of the current SIP process in 2006 I have personally witnessed dramatic improvements in the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom. I was part of the original team that visited schools during the start of the SIP model in 2006. I want to commend the faculty and parents for their hard work with the implementation of a level of instruction that is going on across the school district. At the same time it is important to note that we often make suggestions for improvements but it is done in a positive manner in the spirit of collaboration for the benefit of the students that we serve.

School Visits since November 3 include the following: Becker, Salina Intermediate, Salina Elementary, Miller, Fordson, Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, Lowrey, Long, River Oaks, Haigh, William Ford, DuVall, Michael Berry Center, Bryant (2), Nowlin, Smith (3), Woodworth and McCollough-Unis. I also visited 7 schools on November 3 to observe the quality Professional Development that is being offered across the school district.

City Beautiful Breakfast.  On November 4th at 7am I attended the City Beautiful Breakfast. Thank you to the Mayor, Trustee Petlichkoff, the City Beautiful Commissioners, the faculty, and the students for doing a fantastic job. The Mayor led the students with the oath of responsibility as Junior Commissioners. Although I do not have any pictures of the students on my phone, I was able to take a picture with all of the junior commissioners that will be sent to each school.

The Mayor’s Fundraiser with Mickey Redmond. Trustee Guido and I were able to get an autograph and a picture.

Staff Development before our new Teachers at the Michael Berry Center on November 11th. It was great to provide a joint presentation with Chris Sipperley (DFT President), Maysam Alie-Bazzi (Executive Director) and Rob Seeterlin (Director). Thank you to Nada Fouani for coordinating the training program. We have over 80 new hire teachers this year and I enjoyed presenting on our collaborative union and management model that we have been implementing to create a wonderful school environment for Dearborn Students.
